About Us

At home in Ramsey

Grove Mount Residential Home is a welcoming detached Victorian house set in secluded gardens and enjoying magnificent views over the town and unspoilt countryside. Quietly located in the north of Ramsey the Home is just moments away from the local medical and dental practices and Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital, while the town centre, 40-acre Mooragh Park and Ramsey Bay with its magnificent promenade are only five minutes away by car.

Being 'at home' at Grove Mount Freedom and independence

Residents' comfort, wellbeing and quality of life are the focus of all we do. We aim to make the lifestyle transition from home routine to living at our Home as seamless as possible. To this end Residents are free to come and go as they wish, entertain guests, invite friends to share a meal with them (by prior arrangement) and spend time however they prefer.

As well as stocking a variety of reading material we will assist with visits to the library, or go on a Resident's behalf, and also order favourite publications. We also welcome suggestions for how we can help support Residents' preferred interests and leisure pursuits.

Health and wellbeing

We have established a valuable working relationship with our neighbours, the Grove Mount medical and dental practices and also with the adjacent Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital and district nursing team. However, mindful of the need for continuity of care we will always ensure Residents continue to see their own GP, dentist and other healthcare professionals.
And at Grove Mount Residential Home our night staff are on duty - not merely 'on the premises' throughout the night - to provide 24-hour care.

Care plans: an essential partnership

Every care plan is created out of a partnership between us and the Resident. As part of our pre-assessment process and building up of trust we want to hear the Resident's own story, to learn how they view their medical and personal history so that, together, we can create a confidential care plan with which they are comfortable, a plan that ensures their physical and emotional wellbeing and supports their quality of life; importantly, a plan that adapts to their changing needs. These care plans are delivered with confidence and discretion by our dedicated and experienced staff who receive coaching, mentoring and training in-house and regularly attend external training courses in order to ensure high standards of practical and theoretical caring skills.

Governance

Underpinning the day-to-day delivery of care is a supportive management committee that works in partnership with the staff to ensure the Home is well run, that the fabric of the building is well maintained all statutory health and safety measures are implemented and that new facilities and amenities are provided when funds permit.

Grove Mount Residential Home is a Manx-registered charity and the management committee - some of whose members have had relatives who have resided at the Home - work tirelessly with the support of the care team and the local community to raise funds to enhance the comfort and care of the Residents and enable them to live as full a life as they can.

'Try before you buy'

We recognise that moving into a Residential Home can be a major upheaval. We aim to make the transition as stress-free as possible and, to this end, we recommend prospective Residents, and their family members if they so wish, spend a day at our Home, meet the Residents and staff, stay for lunch and afternoon tea and, above all, ask as many questions as they and their relatives wish. And for prospective Residents requiring transport, we will be pleased to collect and return them home in our minibus. Should an informal visit not be possible our manager will carry out a pre-assessement in the Resident's own home. In this way our detailed preadmission process means that when a new Resident joins us they can be confident and secure in the knowledge that their care requirements and personal needs will be met from day one.
